Teletypes

The teletype is a printing telegraph. Printing telegraphs first appeared in the middle of the 19th century. In the USA the principal manufacturer was the Teletype corporation, as it was known after AT&T bought Morkrum-Kleinschmidt in 1930. Teletype machines are generally electro-mechanical where only signal conditioning is done electrically, everything else is mechanical.
